In the eyes of Hollywood’s elite, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s reputation has been tarnished as a result of the publication of his memoir, Spare, and the shocking Netflix documentary.
The two are hopeful that Heart of Invictus, a new Netflix series from Archewell Productions, would help them restore their name.
The series, which is scheduled to debut in the middle of 2023, will follow contestants as they train for the Invictus Games in The Hague 2022.
According to a tweet from Netflix, “This new series from Archewell Productions follows a group of amazing competitors from around the world who are all service members who have endured life-altering wounds or diseases” as they prepare to compete at the Invictus Games.
The Invictus Games were introduced by Prince Harry in 2014.
The Duke of Sussex introduced the Invictus Games for service members who were wounded, ill, or injured for the first time in 2014.
Newsweek Chief Royal Correspondent Jack Royston noted on the podcast Royal Report that some PR professionals believe the new series could help the young prince recover from his “reputational slump.”
It is clear that this initiative is highly special. Few people on the earth can claim to have accomplished anything comparable to what Harry is doing there, he said.
“America’s veteran population, with good reason, needs well-known individuals to speak up for them. And everyone who does that will benefit much in terms of their reputation.
One strategy Harry is using is to create more deserving, albeit somewhat less attention-grabbing, content.
The series is thought to be an effort to restore their reputation.
Prince Harry expressed his desire for the programme to give “people throughout the world a window into the touching and uplifting experiences of these contestants” in a statement issued in the middle of January.
The duke said: “Invictus was inspired by the experiences I had with our troops and women from various nations, from my life-changing trip back from the battlefields of Afghanistan to the example of America’s warrior games.”
The German city of Düsseldorf will host the Invictus Games in 2023.
