Did Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle meeting secretly during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations? A tabloid cover story claims the sisters-in-law had a tense reunion earlier this month. Here’s what we know about the rumored showdown.
Middleton and Markle at the “Point Of No Return”?
The latest edition of Us weekly Kate Middleton reportedly had no interest in handing Meghan Markle an olive branch during her recent visit to the UK. While the rest of the royals did their best to play nice, sources say that just wasn’t in the cards for the feuding duchesses.
“The reunion was like a ticking time bomb waiting to explode,” notes a source. Apparently, Middleton’s icy demeanor still ties into the Sussexes’ bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey last year. “When Meghan publicly trashed Kate and the rest of the royals, it was the last straw,” a source said.
“Kate is still waiting for a meaningful apology and refuses to interact with Meghan unless she absolutely has to. She’s finding it very hard to spend time with Meghan and Harry after all the mud that’s been thrown.”
But eventually, sources are revealing the Sussexes were keeping their distance from the Cambridges and that’s unlikely to change anytime soon. “In the end, Harry and Meghan spent almost all of their time at Frogmore Cottage,” the tipster spills.
“Either side feels like they have to apologize, so there’s no moving forward… Neither wants to take responsibility for anything they’ve done. Things remain at a stalemate.” This story is just classic bait and switch.
While the cover of the magazine has a blurb about the duchesses’ all-or-nothing anniversary showdown, the actual story just says they never even met. There was no showdown, and the outlet knows it. Still, the magazine wanted its readers to believe that Markle and Middleton had a secret falling out, but it never fully committed to the lie it sold on the cover.
And the truth is far less dramatic. As far as we can tell, Markle and Middleton’s paths have never crossed. The Sussexes appeared to be having a great time in London, and their visit certainly wasn’t in vain.
They reportedly met with the Queen again and even introduced their daughter Lilibet to her namesake. But those itching for a dramatic reunion were left deeply disappointed when Harry and Markle returned to the States without posing for a single photo with senior royals.
Of course we know better than to take Us weekly on her word whenever it comes to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Earlier this year, the outlet reported that Spotify was terminating its deal with the royals.
The magazine then claimed that Harry and Markle stopped in London on their way to the Netherlands to say a “final goodbye” to the Queen. And most recently, the rag claimed Prince Harry’s publisher repeatedly rejected his memoirs. Apparently, Us weekly is not the most reliable source when it comes to the Sussexes.
