King Charles sends granddaughter Princess Charlotte sweet message on her birthday

The official Royal Family Instagram account, which frequently shares updates for King Charles and Queen Camilla, uploaded a new photo of Charlotte for her birthday.

King Charles has sent a very sweet happy birthday message to his granddaughter Princess Charlotte as she turns eight today.

The official Royal Family Instagram account, which frequently shares updates for King Charles and Queen Camilla, uploaded a new photo of Charlotte, with the message simply reading:

‘Happy Birthday’ in pink letters. The picture was first shared late on Monday night on the Prince and Princess of Wales’ social media accounts as they wished their daughter a happy birthday.

The sweet photo was taken by doting mum Kate as Charlotte beamed for the camera in a white dress with flowers on it. The Princess of Wales has a passion for photography and frequently takes portraits of her children to celebrate their milestones.

The photograph of Charlotte was taken over the weekend in Windsor where the youngster can be seen grinning while she relaxes in a white wicker chair. The pictures comes after royal fans noticed previously unseen photos of Charles with his two eldest grandchildren in a new BBC documentary.

The first showed Charles, in around 2016, playing with Charlotte, who is still just a baby, while another snap shows the Monarch with George at a tea party thought to be in the same year.

Last month, a new book claimed that Charlotte is set to be granted one of the “grandest” royal titles after it was reserved for her by King Charles.

She is now formally known as Princess Charlotte of Wales – a nod to her parents being the Prince and Princess of Wales – but this will likely change throughout her life. Royal experts think Charlotte will likely be bestowed the prestigious title of Duchess of Edinburgh as she enters adulthood.

Robert Jobson writes in his new book Our King Charles III: the Man and the Monarch that Charlotte could be granted the Duchess of Edinburgh title.

He explains: “Sensitive to the fact that nine-year-old Prince George’s future is already mapped out, Charles has been careful to reserve one of the grandest titles for Princess Charlotte – currently called Lottie by her mother and Mignonette (French for cute little thing) by her father.

“Although the King has made his brother Edward the new Duke of Edinburgh, the title is only for life. After Edward dies, Charles has made it clear Charlotte (now aged seven) should become Duchess of Edinburgh.”
