Florida Governor Ron DeSantis recently expressed his opinion on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, stating that some Americans find the royal couple “annoying.” The 44-year-old Republican shared his thoughts on the TalkTV show “Piers Morgan Uncensored.”
During the interview, Morgan, 57, first inquired about DeSantis’ views on the late Queen Elizabeth, who passed away in September 2022 at the age of 96. DeSantis conveyed his respect for the monarch, admiring her elegance and stoicism.
However, when discussing the younger generation of royals, DeSantis acknowledged that the public’s opinion tends to be “a little more mixed.” When asked by Morgan if he found the Duke and Duchess of Sussex annoying, DeSantis responded, “I think for some they are,” adding, “I mean look, I’m not involved in that … But I think for some Americans, they can be.”
DeSantis also mentioned that his book, “The Courage To Be Free,” outperformed Prince Harry’s memoir, “Spare,” in the United States earlier this year.
The governor’s comments come amid ongoing debate regarding whether Harry and Meghan will attend King Charles’ coronation on May 6 in the United Kingdom. Princess Diana’s former butler, Paul Burrell, recently speculated that Meghan may not be “brave or strong enough” to attend the event, suggesting that Harry could go alone.
Burrell, 64, expressed his concerns to Closer Magazine: “It’s likely to be incredibly uncomfortable for them if they attend, particularly Meghan. Are they prepared to face the music?” He continued, “She’d have to look in the eyes of a family she’s pushed under the bus.”
The couple has reportedly received invitations to the ceremony and is still considering whether to travel to England for the family gathering. “The ball is well and truly in Harry and Meghan’s court,” Burrell said.
Royal insiders told OK! Magazine on March 18 that if the couple does attend the coronation, their presence could create “chaos.” Harry and Meghan are said to be demanding a spot on the Buckingham Palace balcony during the event and recognition of their two children, Archie and Lilibet.
