Prince Harry and Meghan Markle found out they were “uninvited” from a state reception for world leaders and foreign royals after they read press reports, Page Six reported.
The parents of Archie and Lilibet are reportedly sent an invitation for the said event scheduled for Sunday night. However, an unnamed spokesperson for King Charles III told the entertainment news outlet that “the invite is for working members of the royal family only.”
“Harry and Meghan actually got the invitation, and no one has actually told them they are uninvited,” the unnamed insider went on. “I’m told they only found out they were uninvited by reading press reports,” another royal tipster told Page Six.
President Joe Biden, French president Emmanuel Macron, and Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau are among the heads of state set to attend the luncheon held by King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla before the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II on Monday.
Prince William and Kate Middleton, Prince and Princess of Wales, Princess Anne, Princess Royal, and Prince Edward and Sophie, Earl and Countess of Wessex, are also expected to greet guests at the Buckingham Palace reception.
On Saturday, Prince Harry and Prince William led the vigil for the late Queen Elizabeth II while her coffin lies in state at Westminster Hall in London. Besides the sons of King Charles III, her other grandchildren – Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Zara Tindall, Peter Phillips, Lady Louise Windsor, and James, Viscount Severn – also presided over the Saturday ceremony.
Royal watchers noticed that Prince Harry sported his military uniform for the occasion. Though the husband of Meghan Markle lost his honorary military titles when he stepped down as senior royal in 2020, royal expert Omid Scobie said, in a tweet, Buckingham Palace reversed course in a surprising “U-turn” on Thursday, Sept. 15.
“[Prince Harry] had come to terms with not wearing uniform on these occasions. Whilst that’s disappointing in some senses, he’s just grateful to be present and honoring the queen,” an informant told Us Weekly before the palace’s change of heart. “At the end of the day, it’s only a uniform.”
Both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have yet to comment on the claims that they have been “uninvited” from a state reception this Sunday night. So, devoted supporters of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex should take all these unverified claims with a huge grain of salt until everything is proven true and correct.
