Prince Harry ‘plans to be back on jet to US two hours after Coronation ceremony ends’

The Duke of Sussex will reportedly spend less than 24 hours in the UK during a whistlestop trip to support his father, King Charles III. Harry will jet back to his wife Meghan in California to celebrate son Archie’s fourth birthday.

Prince Harry plans to be on a jet back to the US within two hours of the King’s Coronation ending, according to reports.

The Duke of Sussex will spend less than 24 hours back in Blighty, it has been reported, as he plans to quickly rush back to Montecito, California, to be with his wife Meghan Markle who is staying at home with their children Archie, three, and Lilibet, one.

King Charles’ Coronation at Westminster Abbey on May 6 clashes with Archie’s fourth birthday.

Reports say Harry was keen to be at the King’s Coronation ceremony to support his father.

But he will reportedly only be in attendance at the Coronation service itself, the ceremony for which begins at 11am and ends at 1pm.

Reports suggest Harry could be in the air on a plane back to the US by 2 or 3pm where he would spend 10 hours travelling 5,000 miles and land in his Stateside home by early evening local time.

Harry’s full travel plans have been kept under wraps for security purposes.

However, it is believed he will arrive in London on Friday and could fly back to Santa Barbara airport, 14 miles from his home, by private jet.

The Sun quotes an inside source saying Harry will be “in and out of the UK in 24 hours”.

“He will only be doing the Coronation service then leaving,” the source added.

Harry and Meghan flew in and out of Farnborough airport in Hampshire by private jet to attend the Platinum Jubilee of the Duke’s grandmother the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Alternatively, Harry could fly back to the US from RAF Northolt in West London, which is 15 miles from from Westminster Abbey.

Another option would be to take a commercial flight from Heathrow, landing in LA at 6.55pm local time before a 90-minute journey home.

Charles and Harry are reported to have been in contact during the lead up to the historic occasion.

The King is thought to be “happy” with his son’s decision to attend the Coronation and “understanding” of Meghan’s choice to remain in the US.

Harry’s relationship with other senior royals, such as his brother Prince William, are understood to be strained.

His whistlestop trip raises a question mark over the potential for private meetings between the family.

Reports suggest that Harry will stay at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor on Friday but it is possible he could join other royals at Buckingham Palace.

Central London will be closed for Coronation parades with tight security arrangements in place for world leaders including French President Emmanuel Macron.
