Meghan Markle and Prince Harry gave us a glimpse of their family life with son Archie as they celebrated his first birthday.
The couple, who are living in LA, shared a lovely video of the tot reading with his proud mum to raise awareness of Save the Children’s coronavirus fundraising appeal.
It showed the Sussex family relaxing at home, with Meghan reading Archie one of his favourite books while dad Harry recorded it.
The royal tot, the Queen’s great-grandson, sat on his mum’s knee but kept wiggling to pick things up and drop them on the floor, to the amusement of a giggling Meghan and Harry.
Body language expert Judi James believes the cute clip shows Archie is growing into a confident little boy who is “besotted by his dad”.
She also notes know Harry is very present despite not being on camera at all thanks to his encouraging words, animal noises and celebrations.
Judi told Mirror Online: “Is great to see little Archie is showing signs of being a confident boy who knows his own mind and is every bit as besotted by his dad as Harry is with him.
“Meghan is loving, calm and patient here as she presses on reading the Duck/Rabbit book to her son and to the camera while Archie attempts to turn the pages himself before trying to swap it for a completely different book.
“Meghan smiles wide-eyed to the camera and like the TV professional she is keeps the reading session on-track although it’s probably only her one arm around Archie’s waist that stops him from going off to play with something else.
“Harry isn’t visible during the clip but his presence off-camera is obvious and you can almost feel his doting smile and hear the chuckles as he films his son.
“His celebratory yell at the end of the clip seems to make Archie laugh in delight and as his eyes focus on his dad he even appears to say ‘Da-da’ to him, although Meghan says he is referring to the title of the book.”
Meghan and Harry planned to throw a party with all their A-list friends to mark Archie’s first birthday, but had to change their plans due to the coronavirus lockdown.
Instead, the family spent the day together at their new LA home.
Royal expert Katie Nicholl told OK! magazine she believes Meghan will be cooking up some delicious organic, sugar-free treat for the family.
She said: “Meghan’s an amazing cook and loves being creative in the kitchen so I think she’ll have been busy baking so Archie can enjoy his first taste of birthday cake this week.
“It will be organic and possibly sugar-free. Something suitably healthy for a one year old.
“If the weather ‘s good, I think they’ll be splashing around in the pool too.
“Archie has everything he needs but his parents don’t spend silly money on toys and clothes.
“Gifts for his new nursery will be welcome but they’ll also appreciate presents that hold meaning rather than material value, such as a donation to a children’s charity or sponsoring an animal in the wild.”
