Meghan Markle’s surprise confession about day she would relive amid royal departure

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s early dating life up to their gradual departure from the Royal Family has been revealed in the new biography ‘Finding Freedom’. The unofficial tell-all book, which features comments from the royal couple’s friends, will be released in less than two weeks time. While the US actress and the Queen’s grandson have fought for privacy in recent years, in the past the star would regularly give interviews to promote her career. In one account, she revealed the day she longed to relive the most.

Before she joined the royals, Meghan rose to fame as Rachel Zane on the TV show ‘Suits’ – a court drama set in Manhattan, New York.

During a promotional tour for its fifth series, the actress made a number of confessions in quick-fire rounds of questions on Dave in February 2016.

The answers came months before she met Prince Charles’ son, which led to their royal wedding in 2018 and the birth of son Archie Harrison, now one.

When asked about her most memorable day that she would “love to relive”, Meghan revealed:  “The day I found out I got ‘Suits’.”

She joked that her teenage self would be “most impressed” by her older self’s “straight hair” before she corrected it with a more serious answer.

Meghan said: “I think she’d be really impressed that I’m an actress on a successful show, it’s crazy!”

The then-future royal also admitted she shared several similarities with her character Rachel Zane.

Meghan explained that her first name is Rachel and that Meghan is her middle name, as well as her belief that they shared the same level of “ambition”.

In one embarrassed confession, she revealed that her first audition was for the role of “Hot Girl Number One” in the 2015 romantic comedy ‘A Lot Like Love’, which starred Ashton Kutcher.

When asked if she landed the part through laughter, she said: “Yes!”

She also divulged that Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s 2000 hit ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ was the song that never failed to get her to dance.

Meghan quipped “It’s a British song” before her head swayed as she sang along to part of the chorus: “I know, I know, I know, I know, I know.”

When asked about the celebrity she would like to have a hang out with, she confessed it was the US chef Anthony Bourdain – who died of suicide in 2018.

Meghan said: “If I was with Anthony Bourdain I would drink a negroni because I’d feel cooler!”

She also revealed her ambition to read ‘The Giving Tree’ to future children and added that if a book was made out of her life it would be called “The glorious adventures of freckle-faced Meg”.
