Meghan Markle’s new best friend? Luvvie Jameela Jamil ‘quarantines’ with Harry and Meghan

Meghan and Princess Harry now live in Montecito, California after stepping back from the Royal Family earlier this year. Ms Jamil, star of The Good Place, has previously taken to Twitter to defend Meghan from criticism over the Duchess’ statements on current affairs.

In response to a reporter claiming Meghan’s comments on voting in the US election were a “massive diplomatic embarrassment” to the Royal Family, Ms Jamil leapt to the Duchess’s defence.

She said the backlash to Meghan’s comments were “because she’s not white”.

Ms Jamil added: “And because she’s smart, strong, opinionated, rebellious, beautiful, happy and has everything they never will.

“She’s a terrifying threat to patriarchy because she doesn’t fit the stereotype for women.

“They discredit her because they can’t kill her.”

A day after the Twitter comments, Ms Jamil were reported to have been invited to the Sussexes new home in Santa Barbara.

Ms Jamil and her boyfriend, singer songwriter James Blake, were seen on a small Santa Barbara County beach on August 22, when Ms Jamil defended the Duchess.

A source close to the couple told The Sun: “Jameela and James drove up to Montecito from Los Angeles and spent time with Meghan and Harry.

“They also had a stroll on the beach but Meghan and Harry didn’t venture out with them.”

The pair have been firm friends for over a year, with both Ms Jamil and Meghan supporting the other online.

When Meghan guest-edited British Vogue magazine, she picked Ms Jamil as one of her 15 influential women.

Ms Jamil said she was called by Meghan for the issue, but “missed the call three times before I finally answered”.

She added to Grazia Magazine in August last year: “I wanted to punch myself!”

Ms Jamil also claimed Meghan told her she was a fan of The Good Place.

On the call, Meghan reportedly referenced a line in the show where Ms Jamil’s character, Tahani Al Jamil, claims she introduced the Duchess to Harry.

She said: “She said she’s grateful to Tahani for introducing her to Harry.

“I just replied, ‘You’re welcome.'”

Meghan has drawn controversy recently over her outspoken comments over the importance of voting in the upcoming US election.

She appeared on former First Lady Michelle Obama’s When All Women Vote event last month, calling on American women to take part in the November 3 election.

She also recently interviewed activist Gloria Steinem about the importance of voting and women’s rights.

Royal members historically do not take part in partisan politics, but Meghan did not endorse any political candidate in the US election.
