Princess Diana’s bulimia to feature in The Crown on Netflix

Netflix series The Crown will feature scenes of Princess Diana’s battle with bulimia, it’s claimed.

Series four will introduce the Princess of Wales to viewers as she joins the Royal Family after marrying Prince Charles in 1981.

Actress Emma Corrin, 24, will be seen gorging on food before vomiting into a toilet in explicit scenes that will depict her struggles with bulimia, which she didn’t reveal publicly until years later.

The news comes after her son Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle signed a rumoured £112million deal with the streaming service to create original content, including documentaries and children’s TV shows.

And it’s now reported that the sensitive scenes involving his mother and her personal battles could drive a further divide between Harry and his brother Prince William.

A source told The Sun : “William and other senior royals are incredibly uncomfortable about this drama and livid Harry is now in partnership with the company that’s airing it.

“It’s the latest in a long line of flashpoints between the brothers, but there are few more sensitive subjects than the plight of their mother.”

The source added: “The Royal Family also wouldn’t expect one of their own to take money made by the profits of shows like this.”

A spokesman for Left Bank Pictures, which makes The Crown for Netflix, told the site: “Producers worked closely with the eating disorder charity, BEAT, to ensure that their portrayal of Princess Diana’s bulimia in Season Four was both accurate to the disorder and sensitively handled.”

Netflix will also reportedly stream Diana: A New Musical, which has baffled Prince Harry’s fans.

He and Meghan stepped back as senior royals earlier this year.

The pair are now living in LA with their one-year-old son Archie.

The money from the Netflix deal also helped them pay back the £2.4million paid by taxpayers to renovate Frogmore Cottage.
