Queen sends Prince Harry sweet birthday message with ADORABLE throw-back photo

The Queen was the first member of the Royal Family to publicly mark the birthday of Prince Harry via social media today. The monarch’s social media staff wrote on The Royal Family Twitter account: “Wishing The Duke of Sussex a very happy birthday!”

The message was accompanied by a picture showing the Duke laughing with his grandmother.

The snap was taken during a Queen’s Young Leaders reception at Buckingham Palace in 2017.

Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, also marked the Duke of Sussex’ birthday.

Publishing a message on social media a few seconds after the Queen, the royal couple’s office, Clarence House, tweeted: “Wishing a very happy birthday to The Duke of Sussex today!”

Prince Charles and Camilla’s message also included two pictures of Harry.

In one, the Duke of Sussex smiles during an engagement at Buckingham Palace.

In the second, he is with his elder brother Prince William and father the Prince of Wales at the first edition of the Invictus Games in 2014.

Prince Harry is turning 36 today and is widely believed to be spending his special day with his wife Meghan Markle and son Archie Harrison.

The family-of-three is now based in California and moved in early July into their £11.1million mansion in Montecito, Santa Barbara.

While they will surely mark this special day for the Duke, Meghan, Harry and Archie are unlikely to head out.

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, indoor dining is still very limited in most counties in California, which has been one of the US states worst-hit by COVID-19.

The state is also being threatened by wildfires, which since August 15 have killed 24 people and destroyed 4,200 properties.

But these restrictions are unlikely to spoil the birthday of Harry, with Meghan likely to have organised something special for her husband.

Last year, for Harry’s birthday, the Duchess recreated their Botswana camping adventures in their backyard at Frogmore Cottage, it has been claimed.

A source said: “It’s a place that means so much to them — and to Harry in particular — so Meghan wanted to bring that happy place to him on his day so she set up a tent, got sleeping bags, cooked dinner and recreated Botswana where they fell in love.”

The couple travelled to Botswana for the first time together on their third date in 2016.

Much like the rest of the African continent, this country is very close to Harry’s heart.

As he said himself during his last tour as a full-time working royal in September 2019, Harry first visited Botswana after the death of Princess Diana in 1997.

That trip with Prince William and Prince Charles marked an occasion to “get away from it all” after being hit by such a personal and devastating tragedy aged only 12.

While touring central Africa, Harry added that visiting Botswana also gave him a “sense of purpose” after losing his mum.
