The Duchess of York has emotionally spoken out after her youngest daughter revealed she is pregnant for the first time.
Sarah Ferguson, who turned 60 last October, said she looking forward to welcoming a baby into the York family.
Eugenie, who is Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s youngest daughter, is 10th in line to the throne and her son or daughter will be 11th, knocking Prince Edward down to 12th.
The announcement came from Buckingham Palace on twitter before Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank confirmed the news on Instagram.
The Royal Family’s tweet read: “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in early 2021.
“The Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York, Mr and Mrs George Brooksbank, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh are delighted with the news.”
And Eugenie’s Insta read: “Jack and I are so excited for early 2021….”
Her mum, Sarah then spoke to the Daily Mail to reveal her excitement.
She said: “I am so excited by the news that Eugenie and Jack are expecting their first child.
“Thrilled for them both and in my 60th year cannot wait to be a grandmother.
“Welcoming a new baby into the York family is going to be a moment of profound joy.”
It’s been a busy year for the York sisters, with Princess Beatrice marrying her property developer fiance Edo Mapelli Mozzi in a secret wedding earlier this year.
Their original wedding plans had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus lockdown, having reportedly already been delayed after dad Andrew was embroiled in the paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein scandal.
2019 was a difficult year for the family, with Andrew effectively being ‘sacked’ from his royal duties by the Queen after his car crash Newsnight interview.
The new royal baby will add to the growing group of little ones in the family, and will have Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis and Harry and Meghan’s son Archie as playmates as he or she is growing up.
