Prince Andrew fails to publicly congratulate Eugenie for pregnancy amid Epstein scandal

PRINCE Andrew today failed to publicly congratulate Princess Eugenie after she announced she was pregnant with her first child amid the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

The 30-year-old princess today gushed over her exciting news with a sweet photo of her and husband Jack Brooksbank along with some baby boots.

In a post online, the mum-to-be wrote: “Jack and I are so excited for early 2021”.

Mum Sarah Ferguson was quick to release a statement over her excitement, saying she was “thrilled” to become a grandmother.

She added: “Welcoming a new baby into the York family is going to be a moment of profound joy.”

Prince Charles and Camilla also posted a message of congratulations, saying: “Congratulations to HRH Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank!”

The Royal Family also shared the news with a brief mention to Prince Andrew, writing: “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in early 2021.

“The Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York, Mr and Mrs George Brooksbank, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh are delighted with the news.”

However despite the fleeting mention of the 60-year-old duke, he is yet to offer any more personal congratulations publicly.

Instead, it fell to his ex-wife Fergie to share their excitement with the world, telling Hello Magazine: “Soon to be Grandpa and Granny are absolutely overjoyed.”

The Duke of York – who walked Eugenie down the aisle on her wedding day – has kept a low profile since being embroiled in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

He hasn’t posted on his social media pages since November last year when he announced he would be stepping back from royal duties.

The Royal is currently under increasing pressure from the FBI to cooperate with them about his friendship with the dead paedophile financier.

Earlier this month he held crisis talks with the Queen at Balmoral over his involvement in the scandal.

It comes after Virginia Giuffre accused British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell of arranging for her to have sex with Prince Andrew three times in 2001.

Andrew has vehemently denied allegations he slept with Epstein’s sex slave Virginia Roberts.

He also denies he was aware of any wrongdoing by the billionaire financier when they were friends.

The royal’s lawyers have also insisted he has repeatedly offered to speak to the US authorities.

As a result of the scandal, the prince has kept a determinedly low profile for almost a year.

And he officially stepped back from public life last November after a car crash interview with Emily Maitlis on Newsnight.

The 30-year-old royal shared the happy news with friends and family earlier this month, two years after marrying Jack Brooksbank.

The baby is expected to arrive in February, just four months before Prince Philip’s 100th birthday.

The Queen and Prince Philip have also been told and are excited to welcome their ninth great-grandchild.

The 30-year-old Princess and wine merchant Jack, 34, married in October 2018 at St George’s Chapel, in the grounds of Windsor Castle – just months after her cousin Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle.

They met in Swiss skiing resort Verbier in 2010, and in a joint interview on The One Show two years ago revealed Jack proposed while on holiday in Nicaragua.

Eugenie famously chose a low-cut Peter Pilotto wedding gown which showed off the prominent scar on her back, to help others with disfigurements.

The scar was the result of surgery she had as a child for scoliosis, in which two titanium rods were inserted into her back.

The Sun Online has contacted the palace and his team for comment.
