Giuliana Rancic gives an important update on her family’s COVID-19 recovery

Last month, Giuliana Rancic revealed in an Instagram post (https://www.instagram.com/p/CFYYcalAHQZ/) that just before leaving to cover the Emmy Awards for E!, she found out that she, along with her husband Bill and their 8-year-old son Duke, had all tested positive for COVID-19. In the video shot for social media on September 20, Rancic revealed, “As I go into my 20th year on the E! red carpet, I have to say I do not take missing an award show lightly, but, unfortunately, this year is just so different. As part of E! and NBCUniversal’s very strict testing guidelines, especially before an event like this, I did find out that I tested positive for COVID-19.”

She went on to say that her whole family was “doing well,” isolating at home together, and in the caption stressed, “We aren’t the first to get this news and we certainly won’t be the last. So please continue to follow the safety guidelines to protect yourselves and those around you the best you can. We are all in this together (via CNN).”⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

The diagnosis was especially concerning for 46-year-old Rancic, who is a breast cancer survivor, but fans were put at ease over the weekend with the update that she and the rest of the family have fully recovered (via People).

Giuliana Rancic only experienced mild symptoms of COVID-19

On Friday, Giuliana Rancic posted a poignant message (https://www.instagram.com/p/CGbDv1YATNH/) to Instagram reflecting on October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but with no updates regarding the family’s diagnosis from the month prior, fans anxiously took to the comments to ask for an update. Rancic was quick to respond to concerned followers stating, “We are through it and all better now. Thank you for asking. We appreciate it” (via US Magazine).

The good news comes on the heels of her husband Bill Rancic’s virtual appearance on The Doctors, shortly after they tested positive for the coronavirus. Stressing that the family had taken all precautions, especially with his wife’s history of breast cancer, the restaurateur revealed that they contracted the virus while they were actively social distancing. He stressed, “We got it while we were in seclusion which tells you anyone can get it … this is not a joke.”

He went on to say that thankfully, Rancic only suffered from mild symptoms during her recovery. “I had some respiratory symptoms and a little bit of body aches…Fortunately her symptoms were less than mine and she’s strong as a bull — so knock on wood thank god that everything is okay” (via People).
