A research paper, published in the International Journal of Public Health Policy and Health Services Research, was cited by the health website.

The research team noted how “water intake is a cost effective, non-invasive and low-risk intervention to reduce or prevent headache pain”.
Their rationale was that mild dehydration can trigger headaches, thus increase in water consumption may help.
For the experiment, 102 volunteers – who experienced between two to four mildly intense headaches per month for a year – took part.
The randomly selected intervention group (consisting of 52 people) had total daily fluid intake of more than 2.5litres for three months.
The data revealed that 47percent in the intervention group reported improvements in their symptoms.
However, drinking water did not reduce the amount of days headaches were experienced – only the severity.
Another natural remedy to consider is utilising a warm compress, specifically for tension headaches.
Applied heat – in the form of a heated flannel, for example – can help to unwind tense muscles, which may bring relief.
There may be a reason some people instinctively rub the back of their neck or pinch the top of their nose when stressed.
Massaging certain areas of the body – including the temples, jaw or neck – may help to relieve a tension headache.
This could be considered a relaxation technique, and it could help you feel much better.
